Celest publishes astronomy guides you can act on. This page explains who stands behind them, where their data comes from, how they are checked and how to report a mistake.

Who publishes Celest
Every article on Celest is published by Petroiu Ionut-Viorel, the founder and editor, who chooses the subjects and is responsible for everything that appears on the site.
Celest is an independent project. It does not publish sponsored articles or paid links, and no advertiser or partner influences what is covered or how.
How we calculate sky data
Celest runs its own astronomy calculations. The calendar works out the dates and times of eclipses, Moon phases, planet events and meteor-shower peaks, and adjusts visibility to the reader's own location.
The same calculations power the sky map, the planet and Moon guides and the observing conditions. When an article gives a date or a viewing time, it comes from these tools, and you can check it for your own sky.
Editorial process
Like other astronomy publications, Celest writes about well-established science and follows the news from space agencies, observatories and research journals. Each article is edited for clarity, checked against its sources and our calculations, and reviewed before it is published.
Sources
The main sources behind an article are listed at its end. Links to them carry a nofollow attribute: they are references for readers, not endorsements or paid placements.
Images
Photographs come from NASA and other space agencies or from openly licensed collections such as Wikimedia Commons and Openverse. Some articles use illustrations instead, which are labelled as such and never presented as real photographs of the sky.
Every image carries a credit line, and openly licensed images link to their source and licence.
Accuracy, updates and corrections
Articles are updated when calculations, forecasts or scientific results change, and each page shows the date of its last real content change. If you find a mistake, write through the contact page and include the page address. Confirmed corrections are applied promptly and the article's update date changes with them.
